Honda has issued a farewell statement following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, its final race with Red Bull.
The Japanese manufacturer joined forces with Red Bull in 2018, first supplying its sister team Toro Rosso before expanding its production to the front-running squad the following year.
Honda officially bowed out of F1 at the end of 2021 when Max Verstappen sealed his maiden F1 title, but remained in a technical alliance with Red Bull for the following years.
It went on to enjoy more championship success with the Red Bull, but will switch allegiance next year as it strikes a partnership with Aston Martin under a fresh set of technical regulations.
“We are proud to have remained at the sharp end of F1 for eight years through our strong collaboration with Red Bull Powertrains and both teams,” said the president of Honda Racing Corporation, Koji Watanabe.
“It has been a great pleasure that the technology and people of Honda contributed to the many victories and championships Red Bull Racing earned during this period.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved.
“Building on these experiences, HRC will continue driving the growth of motorsports and the advancement of Honda technological innovation.”
Red Bull will field its own power unit for the first time in its history next year, constructing the engine in collaboration with Ford.
