Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds has stressed that he does not want Formula E to become like F1, where as things stand competition is at an all-time low.

Max Verstappen's dominance and Red Bull's brilliance has resulted in just one non-Red Bull win since the start of the 2023 season – Carlos Sainz at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix.

Over in Formula E, the sport had seven different winners in 2023 and has had three different winners in the opening three rounds of 2024. On top of that, across the opening three rounds, seven different drivers have featured on the podium.

This is despite the racing having been below-par, something which is set to change this Saturday at the São Paulo E-Prix.

Remaining ultra-competitive is key to Formula E's rapid growth, with the sport officially having the fourth largest fanbase in motorsport.

Dodds is immensely proud of how competitive Formula E is and wants it to avoid replicating F1's predictable nature.

'Fans love competitiveness'

"I think we've had eight winners in nine seasons, pretty much every season has come down to the last race of the season," Dodds told select media including RacingNews365.

"And if you look at last year alone in London, you had three drivers and three teams that could still win the championship when we get to there, but it's very deliberately done. We know that fans love competitiveness, when competitiveness starts to go, fanbase starts to disappear.

"So we are very fixated on keeping competitive nature high. And I know I made a bit of a bet recently, which you might have seen where I talked about a Max Verstappen guarantee about how he will definitely win.

"And a lot of people at the time said I was being unreasonable. But here we are two for two. And it looks like now the question is can he win all 24? We do not want to be that sport."
