F1 fans have voted for Lewis Hamilton's 2020 Turkish Grand Prix drive as their greatest race drive in the history of the world championship.
RacingNews365 recently ranked what we believe to be the greatest drives in the history of F1, with one drive from each decade represented, with our ranking placing Niki Lauda's heroic 1976 Italian GP drive as #1, his fourth place coming just six weeks after his fiery accident at the German GP.
Hamilton's 2020 drive in Turkey secured him a record-equalling seventh F1 world championship, tying Michael Schumacher's total in torrid conditions at Istanbul Park.
The race was only on the calendar due to the COVID pandemic, with it being resurfaced ahead of F1's return after the last race in 2011.
But the new track surface did not have time to settle in, before rain made the track almost undriveable, with Hamilton starting sixth.
Nursing his intermediate tyres after a slow start on the wets, Hamilton one-stopped his way to victory by some 31s to record the win and claim the title.
The drive received some 24.63% of the vote, meaning, of course, more of the ballots cast were against this particular race drive.
In second place was Lauda's 1976 result at Monza, with Jenson Button's famous 2011 Canadian GP win sneaking into third place.
Invited to leave comments, some users proposed other races.
These included Ayrton Senna's 1993 win at Donington Park in the European GP, Max Verstappen's 2024 Sao Paulo GP victory, Michele Alboreto at Monaco in 1985 and the iconic duel between Gilles Villeneuve and Rene Arnoux at Dijon in 1979.

Well that is total nonsense. Ayrton Senna at Donington 1993 deserves that title. I am sure a lot of Senna's other victories and those of Jim Clark would rate higher than anything Hamilton has done. Also Max Verstappen, Brasil 2024.

you're clearly biased if you think brasil 2024 is better than turkey 2020 where lewis won in the 4th fastest car in a race he didn't supposed to win and made the tires last lober than expected and was still fast even when his car wasn't while max did great he had a fast car plus he needed safety car to win cause without the safety car max would finish second or below, even 2008 silverstone is way better than brazil 2024

The fact is more people voted against it than for. That says more.

Ridiculous. Typical Hamilton army vote. Nothing to do with good driving. He was just lucky the track dried up and his inters got bald so his inherent car advantage could come out and save him. Before that, when it was wet, Hamilton was rubbish, slow and going off the track (one of only a few) and a pit stop behind after a few laps. I belive he was a crazy 5s back in qualifying, so his wet driving was rubbish that weekend.

dts fan trying to understand how f1 works, mercedes was clearly the 4th fastest that race yet lewis made it seem easy as always for people like you who don't know anything about f1, yeah he was going off the track cause the car didn't fire its tyres as quikly as the other cars so he did well considering his tyres were cold and the way he managed his inters to last so long yet keep going fast is why he's one of the greats it's sweet seeing your tears over the most succeful f1 driver who is half black that must hurt you alot
