Jack Doohan has confirmed he will race with the number of one of his idols when he competes in his F1 debut campaign next year.
Doohan has chosen number seven, the same as 2007 F1 champion Kimi Raikkonen, a driver the Australian has described as "a super special person".
Doohan, who also competed with the number five years ago whilst with Double R Racing in the Euroformula Open Championship, will drive for Alpine in 2025 after being promoted from his reserve role as a replacement for Esteban Ocon.
Via a post from Alpine on X, with Doohan in a Las Vegas casino, describing himself as "super pysched", he added: "I really wanted to go with a number that I raced with before, something that had meaning for me.
"I raced with number seven in 2019, and also one of my idols, a super special person and driver, Kimi Raikkonen, also drove with that number.
"I'm really looking forward to continuing it on and making it my own, and getting some luck from number seven."
