Aston Martin has announced that Lance Stroll will continue alongside Fernando Alonso in 2025 and beyond, as was widely expected.

Alonso committed to the team on a two-year deal in April, with no official confirmation that Stroll - the son of team owner Lawrence - would continue to race for the Silverstone team, although a change was not viewed as a realistic possibility.

Stroll has raced for the team since its Racing Point guise in 2019, and has banked two of his three podiums with the team, and also grabbed a maiden pole position at the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix.

The decision will see Alonso and Stroll remain as team-mates for at least three seasons after Alonso joined at the start of the 2023 season, replacing the retired Sebastian Vettel.

"I’m super happy to have committed to staying with the team for 2025 and beyond," explained Stroll.

"It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the last five years; we’ve grown so much as a team and there’s still so much more to look forward to."

Krack hails Stroll

Stroll has been an important part of building the team up, something team principal Mike Krack highlighted.

"We are delighted to confirm Lance’s future with Aston Martin Aramco. He has played a key role in building this team," he said.

"His technical feedback, alongside his committed simulator work, has helped contribute to the continuous development of the car each season.

"The consistency and stability of both Lance and Fernando remaining with our team is a great platform to continue to realise our ambitions.

We look forward to creating some more incredible memories and achieving further success together."
