Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has conceded he would do "handstands" to sign Max Verstappen.

The Red Bull driver secured his 56th career victory and his 100th podium in F1 at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, leading another one-two ahead of teammate Sergio Perez to put the Milton Keynes-based outfit in complete control of both championships.

The reigning world champion's dominant performance came amidst the continuing drama at Red Bull regarding team principal Christian Horner and motorsport advisor Helmut Marko.

Following the continuous rumour of power struggle as internal turmoil dominates the sport's headlines, there have been suggestions that Verstappen could seek an early departure from Red Bull - dependent on Marko's future.

Verstappen's 'decision' to make

Speaking to media including RacingNews365 following the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, where George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finished sixth and ninth for Mercedes, Wolff said "I'd love to have him [Verstappen].

"But first we need to sort out our car, I think we owe it to our drivers, George and Lewis, to improve the car and give them equipment that is good before dreaming about the future."

However, insisting the call was out of his hands, Wolff stressed: "I think this is a decision that Max needs to take.

"There is no team up and down the grid who wouldn't do handstands to have him in their car."
