Toto Wolff has outlined the dilemma Mercedes is facing as to which driver gets the sole remaining US F1 upgrade package in Mexico.

Mercedes delivered a big package for both cars for the Austin weekend, but George Russell crashed heavily in qualifying at Turn 19.

With the parts beyond immediate repair trackside, he was forced to start from the pit-lane for reverting to the old-specification of parts, which Wolff confirmed will be in use throughout the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend.

Normally, these would be on Russell's car, with Lewis Hamilton continuing to use the fresh parts, but Wolff has detailed that Hamilton is not "keen" on the new parts, leading to the possibility of Russell taking them and Hamilton using the old-spec himself.

"No, we won't have the upgrades, we will be missing the floor," Wolff told media including RacingNews365.

"It needs to go back to the UK to be repaired for Brazil, so we will be running the [old] specification.

"With Lewis normally we would have all the parts, but I am not 100% sure that he is keen on running that, so we've got to find out how we want to tackle the weekend."
