Oliver Bearman has quietly emerged as Ferrari's most compelling long-term option to replace Lewis Hamilton, blending remarkable composure with a trajectory that mirrors the Scuderia's most successful driver transitions.
The 20-year-old Briton's path through Ferrari's development system tells a story of calculated progression rather than rushed promotion.
Having joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in late 2021, Bearman methodically climbed the ladder with twin F4 titles, a podium-laden F3 campaign, and F2 victories before his memorable Ferrari debut in Saudi Arabia 2024.
That debut performance, where he finished seventh after just one hour of practice, showcased the temperament Ferrari craves.
His calmness and procedural understanding caught observers' attention, particularly his ability to absorb complex information without panic.
Bearman's current Haas seat follows Ferrari's proven development model. His 2025 rookie season yielded 41 points and 13th in the championship, crucially outscoring experienced teammate Esteban Ocon.
Most tellingly, Bearman scored points in five consecutive races from Singapore to Las Vegas, a feat no Haas driver had achieved before.
His standout Mexico drive, climbing from ninth to fourth whilst holding off Russell, Antonelli and Piastri, demonstrated racecraft beyond his years. These performances suggest readiness for bigger machinery.

Why Bearman makes sense
Hamilton's Ferrari struggles in 2025 have intensified retirement speculation, particularly after his admission that last season was a "nightmare."
With Hamilton's contract situation unclear beyond 2026 or 2027, Ferrari faces a crucial decision window.
Bearman represents continuity without disruption. His Ferrari DNA, acquired through the academy system, means he understands the team's culture and expectations.
Unlike external signings, there would be no adaptation period to Ferrari's unique demands.
At just 20 years old, Bearman has comfortably over a decade ahead of him in the pinnacle of motorsport, plenty of time to take Ferrari back to the top of the championship.
