Max Verstappen has been summoned to see the F1 stewards in Qatar.

The Dutchman put his Red Bull RB20 on pole position after besting George Russell to the fastest lap during qualifying.

It marks his first pole position since the Austrian Grand Prix in June - however his summons has put the result at risk.

Verstappen will see the stewards after being alleged to have been “driving unnecessarily slowly” during the session.

The issue relates to Verstappen on a warm-up lap prior to the final runs in Q3.

Mercedes' George Russell was forced to take avoiding action and highlighted the “dangerous” nature of the incident.

Russell went on to end the session in second place, narrowly down on Verstappen's session-topping time.

The Dutchman will see the stewards at 23:15 PM local time.
