Valtteri Bottas News

Valtteri Bottas didn't have an easy season start in 2023. In 2022, the Finn scored an impressive 49 points for the team, finishing as the tenth driver in the standings. This resulted in Alfa Romeo Racing securing the sixth position in the Constructors' Championship. However, in the 2023 season, Bottas only scored ten points. His teammate, Guanyu Zhou, earned six points. As a result, the team finished eighth in the championship.

How will Valtteri Bottas perform in the 2024 season?

Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas has been racing around on four wheels since he was just six years old, climbing through the domestic and then European karting ranks into open-wheel series on his route to Formula 1.

Bottas made a strong start by winning both the 2008 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and the 2008 Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup, taking victory in 17 races from 28 starts. 
 

Stepping into the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2009, the Finn went without a win in his first campaign but claimed two pole positions and finished third overall, a feat he matched in the following year. In 2011, he won the GP3 Series in his debut season.

F1 Debut by Williams

Bottas was given his chance in Formula 1 by Williams, who signed him as a test driver in 2010 and 2011 before naming him as their reserve driver for the 2012 season. The British outfit promoted Bottas to full-time driver in 2013, and he was partnered by Pastor Maldonado.

After a debut campaign that saw Bottas record just four points, the Finn secured a fourth place finish in the World Championship in 2014, ahead of the likes of Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel. He also scored his first podium at the Austrian Grand Prix, finishing behind Mercedes duo Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton.

Valtteri Bottas Mercedes

Following four seasons with Williams, Bottas was selected by Mercedes to replace the retiring Rosberg as Hamilton's teammate for the 2017 campaign. He has since gone on to win 10 races, as well as finishing second in the Drivers' Championship on two occasions.

Bottas to Alfa Romeo F1 2022

In 2021, it was announced that Bottas would be moving from Mercedes to Alfa Romeo, replacing his fellow Finn Kimi Raikkonen. In 2022, he partnered with Guanyu Zhou. Despite the new regulations, Bottas and Zhou both scored points regularly, helping Alfa Romeo to sixth place in the championship. In 2023, Bottas scored fewer points but still outperformed his teammate. The team finished eighth. 

Valtteri Bottas had his last F1 season with Stake F1 Team

For 2024, Bottas stayed with the Swiss team, now known as Stake F1 Team. However, this was his last full season in Formula 1. Unable to secure a race seat for 2025, he will join Mercedes as a reserve driver.
