Toto Wolff identifies major Norris-Piastri difference from Hamilton-Rosberg feud

Toto Wolff has highlighted what he believes is a major difference between current F1 title contenders Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri compared to the Lewis Hamilton-Nico Rosberg feuds.

For the first time since Hamilton and Rosberg fought for the 2016 title, a pair of team-mates are battling for the F1 drivers' title, with McLaren's Piastri leading by 31 points from Norris with eight grands prix remaining. 

Both are seeking a maiden F1 title, with the fight being relatively clean thus far, with the only flashpoint being Norris taking himself out of the Canadian GP after colliding with Piastri. 

Hamilton-Rosberg is often described as one of the fiercest intra-team battles in F1 history, but Wolff believes the situation Zak Brown and Andrea Stella face at McLaren is "very different."

"We had two different animals in the car, in Lewis and Nico," Wolff told media, including RacingNews365. 

"They were two assassins, maybe assassins is not the right word, but they were two fierce combatants that took no prisoners, racing against each other at times. 

"It was very difficult to manage, but I don't see that at McLaren. 

"First of all, where it was difficult for us in 2016 was that they were there for a long time, Lewis was a world champion, and it was two lions in the car that went at each other's throats, that is very different today."
