To get right to the point: Red Bull broke five very special records. Who could have imagined before 2023 that the team from Milton Keynes would turn such a season? Red Bull took 21 wins from 22 races with the unapproachable RB19 and would leave the competition completely defenseless. Max Verstappen single-handedly ensured the constructors' title by adding 19 victories to his list of honors and thus became world champion himself in glorious fashion among drivers. But which records have fallen

On its way to a season of unrivalled dominance in Formula 1, Red Bull broke five major records as it wrapped up both titles with the absolute minimum of fuss.

Mercedes' George Russell predicted after the season-opener in Bahrain that Red Bull would win every race in the season, and while that did not happen, the Milton Keynes outfit gave it an unbelievably close shot, falling just one short of becoming the first-ever team to sweep a season.

Max Verstappen's dominance was so great that he would have won the Constructors' title by himself by 166 points with his 575 dwarfing the 409 Mercedes could haul for second place.

But which records did Red Bull smash in 2023?

.

Most wins in a season - 21

The previous benchmark for most victories in a season fell to Mercedes in 2016, when the W07 was driven by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg to 19 wins from the 21 races that year.

The two they failed to win came in Spain when they played team-mate total wipeout on the opening lap, and in Malaysia when Hamilton's engine famously expired while en route to a comfortable win.

But with victory in Las Vegas, Red Bull recorded their 20th win of the year as Verstappen broke the record for the team, further extending it in the Abu Dhabi finale - a race the triple World Champion has now won for the past four years in a row.

The only fumble from Red Bull in a Grand Prix came in Singapore, when set-up issues led to both Verstappen and Sergio Perez being dumped in Q2, before climbing to fifth and eighth in the race. Without a badly-timed Safety Car, it is possible Verstappen might have won there too...

Like many of these records, some consider it easier to achieve them in modern F1 with the ever-increasing number of races on the calendar.

That might be true and offer more races to be won, but they still have to be won. A team must still execute the Grand Prix weekend and deliver the result.

Highest percentage of wins - 95.45%

Maybe that's why the highest percentage of wins is slightly more relevant. And let Red Bull hold that record as well. The team from Milton Keynes won 95.45% of the races, once again obliterating a special record held by the legendary McLaren from 1988. Back then, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost together won 93.75% of Grands Prix, representing 15 out of 16 races. When you look at it like that, it is very special that Red Bull has recorded so many victories.

With the most wins in a season, also comes the highest percentage of wins, with Red Bull clocking in at a hefty 95.45% for 2023.

This eclipses, just, the 93.75% recorded in 1988 from McLaren's Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost with their 15 wins from 16 races.

The only race they fumbled that year was the Italian Grand Prix where Prost retired with engine trouble while Senna famously collided with backmarker Jean-Louis Schlesser late on.

This opened the door for a Ferrari one-two at Monza, just weeks after the death of Enzo.

Most consecutive wins - 15

Another one of the records to be making its way from Woking to Milton Keynes is that for most consecutive Grand Prix wins, with Red Bull raising the level to 15.

Their run actually began in the 2022 Abu Dhabi GP, and continued on for the first 14 races of 2023 until defeat to Carlos Sainz in Singapore.

The existing record of 11 was passed at the British Grand Prix, with the run coming to an end in Italy after Verstappen's own record-breaking 10th consecutive win.

Most points in the constructors' championship - 860

Red Bull also took over two other records from Mercedes. The Silver Arrows held the record for most points for a constructor: 765 in 2016. Red Bull already came very close last year with 759 points, but this year they added quite a bit more. The many wins as well as podium finishes eventually led to 860 points, edging Mercedes' record by 95 points.

Going back to 2016 and Mercedes, Red Bull also took the Silver Arrows' record of most points in the Constructors', ending up with 860.

Now, this must be caveated by the fact that there were 22 Grands Prix in 2023 compared to 21 in 2016, allowing for an extra 43 points, plus one for the fastest lap.

Moreover, there were 90 points on offer across the six Sprint weekends for a one-two finish in each, meaning a grand total of 134 more points were on offer to Red Bull as it broke the record than was to Mercedes.

In the end, Red Bull's 860 points smashed Mercedes' 2016 tally of 765 by 95 points, with the team scoring an average of 39.09 per race.

As an aside, Red Bull has also moved into second place on the all-time list for most points scored by a Constructor, with 7248, passing Mercedes' 7222.5. Both are well behind Ferrari's 9672.

Largest lead in constructors' championship

The third record pinched from Mercedes' 2016 campaign is rather predictable with the largest lead in the Constructors' Championship.

Red Bull beat Mercedes by just the 451 points in 2023, gulfing the 297 Mercedes had over Red Bull back in the third season of the turbo hybrid era.
