Stroll in talks to sell Aston Martin shares

Lawrence Stroll is open to selling a minority stake in his Aston Martin Formula 1 team to an interested party, according to a report.

The Canadian billionaire purchased the Aston Martin squad midway through the 2018 season when it fell into liquidation while running under the name of Force India.

Following a handful of seasons competing as Racing Point, the Silverstone-based squad transitioned to Aston Martin in 2021.

Last year it sold a minority stake in the company to Arctos Partners, placing the value of the team at $1.3 billion.

Now, Bloomberg reports that Stroll is keen to sell another 25 per cent of the squad's shares.

“From time to time and more recently following the Arctos Partners investment, the team is contacted by interested parties,” a spokesperson told Bloomberg.

Since taking over the team, Stroll has invested heavily in the project. Last year it opened its brand-new factory at Silverstone during a successful campaign that saw it score eight podiums.

Fernando Alonso, who bagged all of the squad's top three results last season, recently penned an extension to remain with the team until at least the 2026 season.

2026 will spark a new era for F1 with fresh technical regulations coming into effect, focused on both the aerodynamic and engine side of operations.

Honda will also make its return to the sport as a power unit supplier, providing engines to Stroll's Aston Martin team.

After the opening five races this season, Aston Martin sit fifth in the constructors' championship.
