It appears James Vowles' patience with Logan Sargeant is starting to wear thin after his latest costly error.

The American driver was unable to qualifying for the Dutch Grand Prix after a huge practice shunt at Zandvoort required an extensive rebuild of his Williams.

Whilst he was afforded the usual dispensation from the stewards to start the race from the back, Sargeant could make little impression on proceedings, finishing P16.

His FP3 crash was the latest in a string of errors. The 23-year-old is in a cycle of accidents or poor performances and has not made the grade in his season-and-a-half in F1.

Williams has already opted to replace him for 2025, with Carlos Sainz joining the team, but it is now looking increasingly likely that Sargeant does not even see out the final nine rounds of the year.

Toto Wolff and Christian Horner have suggested Mick Schumacher and Liam Lawson, respectively, as replacements - although it appears Andrea Kimi Antonelli is not an option for Williams, with the Mercedes junior set for his first FP1 outing at Monza.

So, given Sargeant's performances, and the short-term alternatives on offer, should Williams drop the American for the Italian Grand Prix and beyond?
