Max Verstappen is a known admirer of endurance sports car racing, but is it time he finally enters one of the most iconic races in the world?
Ahead of this weekend's Daytona 24 Hours, multiple drivers called for the four-time world champion to enter the race at the Daytona International Speedway.
Verstappen has previously expressed his intent to compete in endurance racing when he retires from F1, something which could happen at the end of 2028 when his Red Bull contract expires.
However, should the Dutchman race in Daytona next year alongside racing for Red Bull? Daytona does not clash with F1 and takes place during the pinnacle of motorsport's winter break.
The Daytona 24 Hours brings together drivers from all categories, with this weekend's race having featured 14 ex-F1 drivers, four current Formula E drivers and several from IndyCar and other sports car categories.
An issue for Verstappen, is that F1 drivers are often not allowed to compete in other categories. For Verstappen to enter, it would break the convention that F1 drivers do not race elsewhere.
Kevin Magnussen did compete at Daytona in 2022; however, he had yet to be signed by Haas to replace Nikita Mazepin.
