Daniel Ricciardo has issued a response to Jacques Villeneuve after being criticised during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend.
1997 world champion Villeneuve is appearing on Sky Sports F1's coverage this weekend during the event in Montreal.
Amid his difficult start to the campaign with RB, Ricciardo was the subject of criticism from the former Williams and BAR driver.
The 53-year-old labelled Ricciardo as “overrated” and questioned his worth on the grid.
A strong qualifying effort followed from Ricciardo, who positioned himself in fifth place at the end of Q3 to secure a third row starting positon for Sunday's race.
“I heard he’s been talking shit,” Ricciardo told media including RacingNews365 after qualifying.
“But he always does. I think he’s hit his head a few too many times. So I don’t know if he plays ice hockey or something.
“I won’t give him the time of day but all those people can suck it. I want to say more but we’ll leave him behind.”

Ricciardo was 'ready to do some good shit'
Ricciardo's strong performance came shortly after RB confirmed Yuki Tsunoda at the team for next year, leaving just one drive available.
With the weekend also marking the 10-year anniversary of his maiden grand prix win, Ricciardo explained he entered the round in high spirits.
“I've obviously been highly motivated to do more than I have been this year,” he said.
“Obviously Miami was a bit of a one-off [where he qualified and ended the sprint in P4]. But I know how good those results feel and that's why I do it, to feel those highs.
“Just coming into the week, everything felt right, I was really happy to come back to this circuit and drive here because I love it.
“[Saturday] was 10 years to the day of my first win and that day changed my life.
“So there's just a lot of nice emotions coming into it and I just felt like I was ready to do some good shit.”
