Advisor Helmut Marko has revealed that Red Bull are "interested" in potentially offering Daniel Ricciardo a new role within the team, following his RB exit.

It was announced on Thursday evening that Ricciardo will be replaced by Red Bull reserve driver Liam Lawson for the remainder of the season.

Lawson now has six races to prove why he deserves the vacant seat alongside Yuki Tsunoda at the sister team next season or potentially even Sergio Perez's spot at Red Bull.

Whilst Ricciardo is not in contention for a seat, the Milton Keynes-based outfit are interested in retaining his services for PR activities.

"We are interested," Marko told Motorsport-Total. "Daniel is one of the most popular Formula One drivers, especially in the United States."

Following Ricciardo's exit from F1, Marko actually expects the 35-year-old to retire from motorsport all together.

The Austrian does not see Ricciardo moving to another category to continue his racing career and actually thinks he has a seismic decision to make regarding his life.

"I find it hard to imagine him moving into another racing category," said Marko. "I don't believe that.

"On the other hand, the question is whether he will see the PR activities if he is no longer actively racing himself.

"Ricciardo has a lot of money in his bank account. This is an important decision about his life, how he wants to arrange his future life."
