Michael Andretti made his debut in Formula 1 in 1983 with the McLaren team. During his time in the pinnacle of motorsport, he also raced for Alfa Romeo and Ferrari. Despite possessing considerable racing talent, Michael Andretti did not experience an exceptionally successful period in Formula 1, and his results were not indicative of his skill as a driver.

Throughout his Formula 1 career, Michael Andretti did not secure podium finishes and failed to win a Grand Prix. Nevertheless, the American managed to accumulate a total of 7 points in Formula 1. Team owner of Andretti Autosport

After his active racing career, Michael transitioned to ownership and management of racing teams. As the team owner of Andretti Autosport, he has played a prominent role in various racing categories, particularly in the IndyCar Series.

In 2025 or 2026, Andretti, pending approval from the global motorsport governing body, may participate in Formula 1 as the eleventh team on the grid. However, the American team is still actively engaged in negotiations with the FIA, adding suspense to whether this will come to fruition. What is certain, though, is that Michael will continue to serve as the team principal of this new Formula 1 team.
