Andretti Global owner Michael Andretti has stressed that his Formula E outfit is "not giving up" on the title this season, despite being comfortably adrift.

The American team head into its home E-Prix this weekend in Portland on the back of a difficult season to-date, which has seen reigning world champion and Andretti driver Jake Dennis rule himself out of title contention.

Ahead of the Portland double-header, Andretti sits fifth in the teams' championship but 146 points behind Jaguar, who sit at the top.

It is in a big fight for third with Nissan and DS Penske, with just four points splitting the three sides from third to fifth in the standings.

As for Dennis, he finds himself fifth in the drivers' championship but 54 points behind leader Nick Cassidy.

Despite the disadvantages in the standings, the team's owner is targeting a big home performance.

"Huge weekend," said Andretti to select media including RacingNews365

"It's great that it's a double-header because it's a great opportunity here to get ourselves in a position to have a shot at the championship when we get to London.

"We've got a lot riding on us this weekend, as well as this being our home race. Yeah, we're really looking forward to the weekend."

Andretti to 'push'

Andretti finished third in the 2022/23 Formula E standings and will be wanting to at least match that result this season.

It is an incredibly tall order for it to win the championship, with Jaguar being able to win the teams' crown in Portland if the Coventry-based outfit score 19 points more than Porsche.

However, despite Dennis not believing the title is on the cards, Andretti is refusing to rule it out just yet, especially if his outfit wins the final four races this season.

"I think, Jake said that, but if he comes out of here with two wins, you don't know," insisted Andretti.

"We'll see where we are at, we're not giving up. As long as we have a chance, we're going to push to win.

"If we go out and win all four races, tell me it can't be done, it can be done."
