Marquez sees similarities to Verstappen: "A killer like you should be"

Apart from the fact that both riders were helped to multiple world titles by Honda power and Red Bull, Max Verstappen and Marc Marquez have more in common: their mentality.

While in MotoGP Marc Marquez was stringing together successes as a very young rider, Max Verstappen, who is if anything even younger, was building quite a reputation in Formula 1, eventually winning three world titles at the time of writing.

Marquez rode for Honda's factory team with support from Red Bull, while Verstappen rides for Red Bull with engine support from Honda.

So, in a sense, their careers have parallels and the successes are undeniable for both riders, unencumbered by any character trait that both riders share. At least, that is how Marc Marquez sees it, as revealed when, in an exclusive interview with RacingNews365 the topic of Max Verstappen is touched upon.

"I like Max Verstappen a lot," Marquez begins. The two are no strangers to each other, as they meet occasionally at shared Red Bull and-or Honda events. "Mostly because he is a real killer."

That last comment demands an explanation: "To win, to be successful at all or to be a hero, you also have to be a killer. What does that mean? That you don't care about anything except the one sacred goal: winning."

"How you achieve that goal and how you actually win doesn't really matter. His first priority is winning and in that respect we have the same mentality. I therefore really like him a lot," the Spaniard reiterated.
