Marko confirms possible Red Bull driver change

Helmut Marko has appeared to suggest Liam Lawson will be handed a full-time RB F1 seat in 2025. 

Lawson made his F1 debut at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, deputising for an injured Daniel Ricciardo, going onto make five appearances, banking two points in Singapore.

The New Zealander impressed during his spell, with Red Bull motorsport advisor Marko hinting at the time that he would be in a race seat for 2025 after Ricciardo was given the nod for '24 alongside Tsunoda.

Marko has made no secret of his desire to see Lawson in the RB alongside the already-confirmed Tsunoda, meaning either Daniel Ricciardo or Red Bull driver Sergio Perez will leave the Red Bull stable at the end of the year, with Max Verstappen firmly in place.

Reflecting on the situation, Marko indicated that a decision would be made swiftly regarding Lawson and a potential promotion. 

"In September there will be a decision," he told Kleine Zeitung. 

"Next year, he will be in one of our cars." 

Marko did not elaborate as to which of the two teams - Red Bull or RB - Lawson would be racing for, with the Kiwi already signalling his intention to look outside Red Bull if a full-time seat offer was not forthcoming.
