Helmut Marko discloses problems harming 'chaotic' Red Bull

Helmut Marko has branded Red Bull "chaotic" after its messy weekend at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The team struggled from start to finish, with numerous issues plaguing the Milton Keynes squad throughout the weekend in Sakhir.

Max Verstappen, who sat out FP1 for Ayumu Iwasa, was displeased with his RB21 throughout. The Dutchman did not look comfortable behind the wheel in either of the two practice sessions he participated in, before qualifying only seventh and finishing just one position higher, in sixth.

Yuki Tsunoda, still getting up to speed at the team and learning its ways of working, had a better weekend than first time out in Japan.

Despite finishing the final two practice sessions ominously low down the order, he reached Q3 - the first time the second RB21 has done so all season - and followed that up with ninth place in the race to score his first two points for Red Bull.

However, the Bahrain International Circuit should have offered more for the six-time F1 constructors' champions, if it was not beset by its plethora of issues.

After the grand prix, Marko detailed the extent of the difficulties the team is facing, whilst admitting it likely would not be until the European leg of the F1 season commences that things start to look up.

"We have a lot of problems," the 81-year-old told media including RacingNews365. "The main problem is balance and grip.

"And out of this, I guess, the problems with the brakes came up, and then the normal procedure at the pit stop was not working. So, one comes after the other."

Since Imola last season - coincidentally where the team expects to introduce upgrades this term - Red Bull has struggled to hit the ground running from the outset of race weekends, something Marko insists it must improve upon.

"We have to start a better programme on Friday, so it's not so chaotic, I would say," the Austrian concluded.
