Kevin Magnussen has admitted that there were no “great highlights” from Haas' 2023 Formula 1 season.

The American squad ended the campaign bottom of the Constructors' Championship for the second time in three years.

Point-scoring results were rare during the season despite a strong start that saw it finish inside the top 10 three times in the first five Grands Prix.

However, the remaining 17 events produced just one further point, courtesy of Nico Hulkenberg who ended the Singapore Grand Prix in P10.

Hulkenberg also bagged Haas' best result of the season in Australia, where he took the chequered flag in seventh.

Car development was a sticking point for the squad throughout the year as it was unable to unlock pace from the VF-23, even through a substantial upgrade brought to the United States Grand Prix.

Magnussen's assessment

As it aims for a stronger year in 2024, which will mark its eighth term in F1, Magnussen conceded that there is little to cheer about regarding last season.

“There's not been any great highlights I would say, unfortunately,” Magnussen told media including RacingNews365.

“But I think the races where we scored points have been quite… There have been races where I've been extremely happy with a P10, which, you know, just shows what kind of season we've had.

“Those races where points have been on the table have been the highlights. Unfortunately it's not been any better than that.”
