Eddie Jordan says that Sergio Perez will be closer to teammate Max Verstappen than his predecessors and is exactly what Red Bull needs. Since Daniel Ricciardo left the team at the end of 2018, neither Pierre Gasly or Albon were able to do enough to remain at Red Bull with just one podium between the pair over two years. Jordan is confident Perez will be strong and can show good form as he did with Racing Point in 2020: "With Perez, Red Bull are bringing in a top driver, Jordan told F1 Insider . "He is a great driver, who will do what Red Bull wants him to do: sit close enough on Verstappen, which allows him to put pressure on Mercedes." However, he thinks that the new Red Bull driver will not be able to keep up with his Dutch teammate. "No one believes he will be as fast as Verstappen. Nobody is faster than Max," Jordan concluded.
