Mitch Evans has revealed that "it will mean a lot" to himself and the entire factory Jaguar outfit, should they eclipse the record for most points in a single season.
The New Zealander has been with the Coventry-based team since its first day in Formula E back in 2016, and has lived through every single one of the side's highs and lows.
Jaguar are 73 points clear of Porsche in the teams' championship and will win the title should Nick Cassidy and Evans score 21 points more than the factory Porsche squad between them in Portland, a more than doable feat.
However, the bigger picture is that should Jaguar score 21 more points across the doubleheaders in Portland and London, then they will break Mercedes-EQ's Season 8 record of scoring 319 points – the largest in Formula E history.
It is an achievement Jaguar arguably deserve, having come so close on so many occasions. Last year was a fine example of that, as they finished just 12 points behind customer team Envision.
With Jaguar being so close to writing its name in the Formula E history book, there is a buzz amongst the squad.
"It feels amazing, to be honest," Evans told RacingNews365. "Definitely feels like a long time coming. I feel like this could have maybe happened in other seasons as well.
"But it's a tough category, so it's always hard to swing a full campaign together. To see us at the front in the teams' [championship] is really through a testament to everyone.
"Obviously, I've been there since day dot, so if we can achieve that, win the teams' championship and get that record, it will mean a lot to this team and Jaguar. Like as I said, I feel like it's been coming.
"It's slipped through our fingers a couple of years in terms of winning the title, but together, if we can continue our current form, and win it in this kind of style would be incredible. It's one of those ones that it feels like it should happen, but I don't want to get too excited as well and jinx it."

'We're so close'
There is absolutely no doubting that this is Jaguar's greatest ever chance to finally claim the crown themselves, having been forced to watch Envision take home the trophy in 2023.
Jaguar has not won it yet though, and if any team knows how it feels to lose a championship at the last-minute, it is them.
With Portland expected to be a chaotic event, Porsche could get themselves into the title fight very quickly, especially if the extreme peloton results in a retirement for either Jaguar driver.
Porsche and Jaguar have been in a league of its own in many ways, which is why Evans and the British manufacturer are still expecting an almighty challenge from the German motorsport giant.
"The team's been operating really well," continued Evans. "Obviously, Nick and I are at the front and it's great to see. So I think everyone's pretty excited.
"We're so close, but we still need to just have composure this time of the year, and just try and keep doing what we've been doing.
"And if we can have a clean, solid weekend in Portland, then I think from a teams' chairmanship point of view, can take off a bit of pressure heading into London.
"But the Porsche guys are so strong, we're expecting a big fight. So I'm sure Nick and I are more than up for it. It'll be good to watch. I'm excited to be part of that fight as well."
