Horner defiant over Red Bull power struggle after Verstappen ultimatum

Red Bull Team Principal and CEO Christian Horner has again insisted that the outfit is "one team", despite recent speculation of a power struggle at Milton Keynes.

It was reported during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend that Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko was facing suspension pending an investigation in relation to the saga surrounding allegations of inappropriate behaviour against Horner.

Horner has since seen his case dismissed following the lengthy investigation into him, whilst the employee has been suspended on full pay.

However, turmoil within Red Bull in recent weeks has led to speculation that there is a power struggle for ownership of the team.

"Obviously a lot is made of this stuff," Horner told Sky Sports F1 .

"But we are one team and nobody is bigger than a team. This team comprises across the different entities over 1400 people, and everybody has a role to play and that's from the very bottom to the very top.

"Without them performing, you don't achieve performances like this and, unfortunately, there's been a lot of speculation this weekend, but once again, our focus is very much on track."

Verstappen not 'bigger' than Red Bull

A departure for Marko could lead to Max Verstappen leaving, with the Dutchman devoting loyalty to the Austrian.

After a discussion with Red Bull GmbH Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff on Saturday, the 80-year-old confirmed that he wouldn't be suspended after all.

Horner has also had to field a tirade from Verstappen's father Jos, who seemingly suggested the Briton needed to step aside.

Verstappen went on to win the Saudi Arabian GP, in what was another Red Bull one-two.

"Helmut is a consultant to Red Bull GmbH, so whatever the discussion was, was between them and not with the team," insisted Horner.'

"Max is an important member of our team and is a valued member of our team.

"He's a wonderful driver, but everybody has a role to play in this team. We are a team and no single individual is bigger than the team, and that's the only way that you achieve these kinds of results. Today was Max's 100th podium finish, all of which have been in Red Bull Racing cars, it was his 56th race victory.

"We move ahead of Williams on 114 victories in what's only our 20th year, and this is an incredibly strong team that has strength and depth that is achieving these kinds of results."
