Hamilton rings alarm bell: Mercedes not quick enough

There is reason for concern at Mercedes after a tricky weekend in Bahrain. With winter testing now over, Lewis Hamilton knows there is a lot of work ahead for the team as they search for pace.

Lewis Hamilton didn't shy away from the fact Mercedes have some work to do, stating the team simply aren't fast enough at the moment. The reigning champions had a problematic weekend in Bahrain, as after some reliability issues on Friday, they seemed to bounce back on Saturday and Sunday. However Hamilton admits the pace simply isn't there at this time. "It's definitely been tricky," Hamilton stated via Mercedes' Twitter account. "The last day was was beautiful and weather wise, not too windy. I think it got a bit windier in the afternoon, which was my running and it changes the characteristics of the circuit. But difficult, difficult days ahead. "I know the guys here have been working flat out this weekend these few days and the guys back at the factory are going to have to work crazy, crazy hours over the next two weeks to try and understand the data. "It does appear that we are perhaps not quick enough at the moment, but I have every faith in the team. We love challenges and this definitely is a challenge for us."
