Lewis Hamilton has placed Adrian Newey at the top of his wishlist for Ferrari in 2025 - believing if would be a "privilege" to work with him.

Hamilton will join Ferrari for 2025, with out-going Red Bull Chief Technical Officer Newey also tipped to follow after the news of his departure from the World Champions after 19 seasons.

Ferrari has previously made multiple attempts to sign Newey, whose future is still uncertain with nothing believed to be signed with either Ferrari or Aston Martin who have made Newey a big-money offer.

Newey is the most successful car designer in F1 history with a combined 25 Constructors' and Drivers' titles and over 200 grand prix wins, but has never worked with Hamilton, who believes it would be "a privilege" to work with him.

"Very much," Hamilton replied when asked by media including RacingNews365 if he would want to work with Newey.

"Adrian is known for such a great history and track record, and he's obviously done an amazing job in his career at engaging with teams and the knowledge that he has, I think he would be an amazing addition.

"They already have a great team, they're making huge progress and strides forward, the car is quicker this year, but it will be a privilege to work with him.

"It is all private conversation stuff, but if I was to make a list of people I would love to work with, he would absolutely be at the top of it."

Hamilton backs Red Bull

Every world championship in F1 since 2010 has been won either by a team Hamilton has driven for or by a Newey-designed Red Bull, and the seven-time world champion has backed the Milton Keynes-based squad to continue its winning-form.

"From my perspective, when I joined McLaren, it was an evolution of his car, and I think I got there just after he left, so that car would have evolved from the design that he had worked on, so I felt privileged that I had the chance to touch something he had worked on," Hamilton added.

"Racing against the team that he has been so heavily a part of over the years has been a massive challenge.

"But we just need to remember that there are a lot of people in the background, there is not one key person, it is a whole team of people who do the job.

"You can imagine of all the amazing experiences that he brings, the people he works with will continue to do an amazing job and continue to build great cars, but any team would be fortunate to have the opportunity to work with him."
