Lewis Hamilton believes Mercedes is in something of a holding pattern while it waits for fresh F1 upgrades.
The last big package brought by the team came at the Belgian Grand Prix, but it decided to take the new floor off, with the good progress being shown by the car subsequently halted.
In the four races prior to the summer break, the team won three times, including on merit in Britain and Belgium.
Since the return, it has a best finish of third through George Russell in Azerbaijan, although he was only fifth before the penultimate lap crash that took out podium contenders Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez.
Rival Ferrari has performed well since the break, and pulled a gap on Mercedes, with Hamilton also pinpointing former team McLaren for its own impressive upgrade pace.
"I don't think it has changed," Hamilton replied when asked by RacingNews365 how the car had altered from before the summer break.
"I think the others have gained, we brought an upgrade for Spa, but then we didn't end up using it.
"The others have, and from Zandvoort and Monza, they brought upgrades, especially Ferrari and McLaren as well.
"We're waiting for ours in a couple of races, but McLaren seem to be the ones that are evolving and have advanced the fastest if you look at their impressive wing.
"We just have to wait and see and do the best with what we've got."
