Zhou Guanyu has been handed a five-place grid drop for the United States Grand Prix, following a new energy store outside of his legal pool.

Stake F1 has fitted a fourth new energy store to the Chinese driver's car, with only two being allowed per season. It marks a breach of Article 28.2 of the sporting regulations.

Zhou becomes the second driver to receive a grid penalty at the Circuit of the Americas, as Liam Lawson will start from the back of the grid after receiving a 60-place grid penalty.

The RB driver has been fitted with an entirely new power unit, with all but one part going beyond each components pool.

Regarding Zhou's penalty, the stewards report stated: "The penalty is imposed in accordance with Article 42.3 a).

"Competitors are reminded that they have the right to appeal certain decisions of the Stewards, in accordance with Article 15 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Chapter 4 of the FIA Judicial and Disciplinary Rules, within the applicable time limits."
