Maximilian Günther has revealed that Maserati's team "morale" is in an excellent place ahead of this weekend's São Paulo E-Prix, with the side being pleased with their "competitive" package.

The start of Season 10 has been significantly better for Günther and Maserati than the start of Season 9, where several errors were made in the opening rounds. Baring a mistake during free practice in Mexico City, Günther has made an excellent start to 2024.

Günther has scored points in all three races so far this campaign and finds himself sixth in the Drivers' Championship, whilst he's also made two duel appearances. As for the team, they sit eighth in the Drivers' Championship.

“I’m really satisfied with how we’ve started this season, and I can’t wait to start running again in São Paulo," said Günther. "Scoring top 10 finishes on a consistent basis is extremely important in Formula E, and by maximising each opportunity we’ve had, that’s exactly what we’ve been able to do so far this season.

"The dynamic, morale, and spirit in the team right now is high, and I think we’re in quite a competitive position with our package. I liked racing in São Paulo in Season 9, and I felt good from the very first lap I did. I think we’re in store for an exciting race this weekend, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do.”

Six-week break not 'ideal'

On the other side of the Monte-Carlo-based team's garage, rookie Jehan Daruvala has arguably been impacted the most by the six-week break since the Diriyah double-header.

Being the only rookie in Formula E is challenging enough for the Indian driver; however, being out of the car for well over a month has limited his learning. Daruvala showed great improvement in Diriyah and made his debut appearance in the duels, only to be robbed of a points finish by a technical problem.

He is excited to be back in the car this weekend in São Paulo and continue his understanding of the Maserati Tipo Folgore and the all-electric series.

“I’m looking forward to racing in Brazil, especially after the break we’ve had since Diriyah," said Daruvala. "As the only rookie on the grid in Season 10, I think the gap we’ve had between races hasn’t been ideal, simply because I want to be driving the car as often as I can so I can continue to gain more experience.

"But it’s been good to rest up a little bit and to spend time with family, especially before we go into quite an intense run of races. The season so far has been about learning for me, and I’m excited to continue that journey. I had a promising weekend in Diriyah and came close to scoring my first points in Formula E, so hopefully we’ll be able to build on that this weekend.”
