Carlos Sainz F1 News

The latest news on Carlos Sainz can be found on RacingNews365.nl. The Williams driver, also known as Carlos Sainz Jr., is the son of two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz Sr. Like many of his Formula 1 colleagues, the Spaniard started out in karting. In 2010, he made his single-seater debut, finishing fourth in the Formula BMW Europe series in his first season.

He caught the eye of none other than Helmut Marko, who brought him into the Red Bull junior program. After several successful seasons and winning the Formula Renault 3.5 title, he made his Formula 1 debut for Toro Rosso in 2015.
 

Sainz and Verstappen Toro Rosso

Sainz was partnered with the Dutch sensation Max Verstappen at the junior Red Bull team, who had become Formula 1's youngest-ever driver at 17. The Spaniard ended the season behind Verstappen, scoring less than half of the teenager's total points. 
 

Verstappen was quickly promoted to Red Bull in 2016, swapping places with Daniil Kvyat at the Spanish Grand Prix, and Sainz then consistently outperformed the Russian. The following season would see Sainz start with Toro Rosso, scoring a career-best fourth at the Singapore Grand Prix, before moving to Renault for the final events.

Sainz spent one year at the Renault team, finishing 10th in the World Championship standings before moving to McLaren, where he established himself as one of the best midfield runners on the grid. His two years at the Woking-based outfit were largely a success, as Sainz finished sixth in the standings in both years, while also helping the team to third in the Constructors' Championship in 2020.

Carlos Sainz for Ferrari

For the 2021 campaign, Sainz moved to Ferrari, and impressively managed to outscore highly-rated new teammate Charles Leclerc by the end of the campaign. This marked the first time that Leclerc had been beaten by a teammate over the course of a season in his racing career.

The start of 2022 looked promising for the Scuderia, with Leclerc and Sainz taking a 1-2 finish in the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. However, the team's momentum fell away amid struggles with reliability, strategy and driver errors.

Sainz' first victory at Silverstone

Sainz claimed his debut F1 victory at Silverstone, as well as securing a further eight podium finishes, but ended the campaign P5 in the World Championship.

The Spaniard will be hoping to build on this in 2023, where he will again partner Leclerc at Ferrari.

Carlos Sainz to Williams

In 2024, the Spaniard drove his last season for the Italian team. In 2025, Carlos Sainz will be joining Williams, with Alexander Albon as his teammate. How will Sainz perform in 2025?
