Carlos Sainz will be investigated following qualifying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, for allegedly rejoining the track unsafely.
The incident occurred during Q1 in Sin City as treacherous conditions saw multiple drivers require the escape roads around the Las Vegas Strip Circuit.
The Williams driver was one of those and has been reported as potentially coming back onto the track in a manner not deemed safe by race control, with the stewards to take a more comprehensive look after the grid-setting session.
The Spaniard got through the first part of qualifying in P12, whilst team-mate Alex Albon clattered the wall, damaging his FW47 and consigning him to elimination in P16.
Replays showed the incident in question saw Sainz rejoin the circuit ahead of Lance Stroll at Turn 5, as the Canadian came through the corner.
Update: Eventually qualifying in a stunning third place, the four-time grand prix winner ultimately avoided punishment, with an Aston Martin team representative confirming that it did not cause any issue.
