Cadillac name 'very attractive' option for 2026 F1 seat

Cadillac F1 CEO Dan Towriss has confirmed Valtteri Bottas as a “very attractive” option for his team next season.

The American squad is preparing to join the F1 field in 2026 and expand the grid to 22 cars for the first time in 10 years.

Various drivers have been linked to the drives up for grabs. Cadillac has consistently highlighted the importance of signing experience as it navigates its early steps in F1.

It automatically placed Bottas, an F1 veteran with recent experience, at the forefront of potential candidates - leaving the Finn to issue a playful message on social media.

As the team hone in on a decision over its shape for next year, Towriss admitted Bottas is a viable option to fill one of the drives.

“Valtteri is a very attractive candidate for a Cadillac seat,” Towriss told Sky F1.

“He’s a fantastic driver and there are opportunities. We’re confident in the process of where it’s going to shake out.”

While F1 experience will not doubt prove vital to Cadillac's push for car development, it could adopt a less conventional approach to fill its other seat.

As it has a working relationship with drivers in series such as the World Endurance Championship and IndyCar, Towriss asserted Cadillac is not afraid to explore its wider driver pool.

“We're definitely looking at our other drivers as well,” he said. “We've got great young drivers in the Cadillac seat in WEC and in IndyCar as well.

“We’ll look at all those things. Whether that's a seat for 2026, a seat for the future remains to be seen.

“Talent abounds, we love those guys, and we're going to take a look everywhere.”
