The Daytona 500 is one of NASCAR's flagship events. The opening race of the season at the Daytona race circuit in Florida is known for its close finishes and the crashes that litter the duration of the race.
This year's rendition once again lived up to the billing as a spectacular multi-car crash on the final lap lead one of the cars to burst into flames in an incident that was eerily familiar to the one involving F1's Romain Grosjean in Bahrain.
Luckily all the drivers escaped unhurt and the race was won by the number 34 racecar of Michael McDowell.
