The things Formula 1 will say goodbye to after 2023

The year is coming to an end, a new year is just around the corner, including for Formula 1. Much will remain the same, but the championship is also saying goodbye to a number of things and people.

Alfa Romeo

No, not an entire team is leaving Formula 1, just Alfa Romeo as title sponsor and technical partner of the team officially registered as Sauber.

In a few years Audi will enter Sauber and so it is only natural that that path will be cleared. For a while there were rumors that Alfa Romeo would join Haas through a similar construction, but talks about that broke down.

Franz Tost

After 18 years at the helm of Toro Rosso and latterly AlphaTauri, Franz Tost will no longer be Team Principal of the Red Bull sister team.

The team will undergo a rebrand in 2024 as well, alongside a change in management as Laurent Mekies will take over from Ferrari.

Curiously, Tost does not disappear from the picture entirely. In a new role as standby consultant, his expertise can always be called upon by Red Bull.

The Pirelli C0 tire

The what? C0? Never heard of it? That may be correct you know, but for the 2023 season the Pirelli C0 tire was newly introduced.

Although it's 'new' it was the old C1 tire, but since the performance gap between the C1 and C2 tire was too large, a new compound was developed to jump into that gap, with the former C1 tire becoming the C0 and the new tire becoming the C1.

The C0 was never used during race weekends, so it will not be used again according to Pirelli.

Drivers? Circuits?

No way. Normally we can fill in the names of one, two or three drivers in this article, but at the first race in 2024 the same twenty drivers will be at the start as in the last race of 2023.

All F1 circuits from last season will also appear on the calendar again next year, providing they do not suffer from any weather-related problems.
