Ricciardo responds to speculation over 2024 Red Bull F1 seat

Daniel Ricciardo has responded to the speculation linking him with a return to Red Bull as early as next season.

Ricciardo returned to the grid with AlphaTauri earlier this year before being forced onto the sidelines once again with a hand injury.

The Australian was back in action in the United States two weeks ago before starring last time out in Mexico by crossing the line in seventh place, bagging AlphaTauri's best result of the year.

Ricciardo is currently contracted to race for AlphaTauri next year alongside Yuki Tsunoda while Sergio Perez is set to continue at Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen.

However, Perez has endured a challenging campaign with Red Bull, prompting suggestions that the Mexican driver could be dropped in favour of Ricciardo, who raced for the Milton Keynes-based squad from 2014 to 2018.

Speaking to media including RacingNews365.com, Ricciardo asserted that his primary focus is delivering for AlphaTauri.

“All the all the stuff around my contract next year has been related to AlphaTauri,” he said.

“I would say that's honestly as far as that goes.”

Mexico result 'good for the soul'

Ricciardo's seventh place result in Mexico result aided AlphaTauri's championship fight as it now sits eighth after being rooted at the foot of the standings for much of the year.

“For me personally, having a weekend, like Mexico is just definitely good for the soul,” reflected Ricciardo.

“And also for the team I haven't been here long but for them to be 10th in the Constructors Championship, and to jump two places in the space of two weekends was huge.

“I think that kind of creates a very happy atmosphere around everyone.

“I'm happy doing that and [will] try to just keep charging on where I am.”
