Could Lando Norris be a potential prospect for a Red Bull seat in the future? The British driver has previously been suggested by a former member of their driver stable.
Norris has been in stunning form for McLaren throughout the 2023 season, having taken eight podiums at the wheel of his MCL60. He scored more points than any other driver apart from Max Verstappen in the latter part of the year.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has already indicated on behalf of Red Bull that, in his view, Norris is the best young driver at the moment and that his youthful playfulness would also suit the team well.
Is Norris therefore the logical favorite for a seat from 2026? He might be, but former F1 driver Johnny Herbert strongly advises against such a move.
“I think if we do it just from a driver’s perspective, you’re always going to try and work out what’s going to benefit you,” Herbert told Express Sport.“Now is the risk of him going to Red Bull worth it in the situation that he finds himself?"

Herbert continued, believing that it would not be "worth the risk" for Norris to make a switch to partner Verstappen given his current form at McLaren.
“McLaren [are] doing really, really well… McLaren love having him in the team. He delivers when the car is working properly… Is it worth the risk? Personally no, I don’t think it is worth the risk.
“He’s still young, he’s still going to get better, he’s still going to improve and at the moment, McLaren are on a very good trajectory to, you know, get themselves maybe in a stronger position for next year.
“We’re going to have to wait and see obviously, but I don’t see why he’d want to make his life that little bit more difficult when he actually is in a very good position that he’s got at the moment.”

Lando Norris will not be available until 2026 and who knows what that season will bring with the new regulations? RBR can be expected to produce a very good chassis, but what can RBPT do with the new power unit that they are designing and developing on their own? For me, that is where the risk lies.
