Norris left ‘dizzy’ in pursuit of dominant Singapore victory

Lando Norris has admitted to feeling “dizzy” after taking an unchallenged victory at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Norris dominated the race at the head of the field, leading the entire 62 laps after starting from pole position.

The McLaren driver crossed the line almost 21 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen.

However, Norris had a handful of close calls during the race, the most prominent of which was a moment he ran wide and almost into the barrier.

Norris held on to take his third career win and further narrowed the gap to Verstappen in the drivers' championship.

“It was an amazing race,” he said. “A few too many close calls. I had a couple of little moments in the middle, but it was well-controlled.

“The car was mega, I could push. We were flying the whole race, and at the end I could just chill.

“So it was nice but very tough. I'm a bit out of breath, but a very fun one.”

Singapore's climate always makes the grand prix one of the most physically tough of the year, with Norris admitting afterwards that he was left feeling faint after the chequered flag.

“It was similar to Qatar last year,” he said. 

“I wasn’t taking it easy. I could have taken it a lot more easy. I’m a little dizzy at the minute but all good.

“I didn’t want to have a second lead. I wanted to have the biggest lead possible. So it was good fun.”
