After a successful karting career that saw him team up with future F1 great Lewis Hamilton, Rosberg would move into formula cars in 2001. His junior career was also outstanding with the German winning the ADAC Formula BMW championship in 2002 and the GP2 Series in 2005.

His title-winning campaign in GP2 would be enough to convince Sir Frank Williams to give Rosberg a drive at Williams in 2006. Rosberg, who already had an existing relationship with Williams after testing their car in 2002, would go on to claim the fastest lap of the race on his debut for the team.

He would spend four years at Williams, claiming two podiums in 2008 before moving to the newly formed Mercedes team in 2010. It was at Mercedes where Rosberg would establish himself as a race winner and eventual champion. By significantly outperforming the great Michael Schumacher during their three years as teammates, Rosberg would also claim his and Mercedes’ first wins at the 2012 Chinese Grand Prix. By the end of 2012 however, the German would face a new challenge in the form of Hamilton.

After another promising year in 2013, the Mercedes team would ascend to the powerhouse they are today with the introduction of the turbo-hybrid era engines. After losing out to Hamilton in 2014 and 2015, Rosberg would come back strong in 2016, winning the title by five points.

The personal toll it took on him left a mark, as Rosberg and Hamilton had been friends since their childhood, but their relationship deteriorated significantly over the four years they were teammates with neither on speaking terms with the other by the end of 2016.

Since retiring, Rosberg has focused on a variety of ventures both related and unrelated to motorsport. He is also still a part of the F1 community working as an analyst for various media outlets including Sky Sports F1.
