Lance Stroll has hit back at Franco Colapinto after the Argentine criticised the Aston Martin driver at the São Paulo Grand Prix.

Stroll was involved in an opening lap incident with home favourite Gabriel Bortoleto, eliminating the latter from the race.

The stewards did not take action on the incident, but Colapinto pinned the blame squarely on Stroll's shoulders.

“Stroll is always taking people out, he’s not looking in the mirrors,” Colapinto said after the race.

“He put Gabriel in the wall, it’s what he does every time.”

When asked by media including RacingNews365 if he was aware of Colapinto's comment, Stroll said: “I heard about it, yeah.

“I don’t know, maybe he’s frustrated and angry with life. I don’t how many points he has in the championship. How many?"

Stroll was informed Colapinto has not yet scored a point this season, to which he replied: “He should probably focus on his own things and try and score some points sometime this year.”

Stroll asserted he cleared the air with Bortoleto after the race but declared he was not surprised by Colapinto's reaction to the incident.

“It was racing, I didn’t get a penalty in Brazil for anything,” Stroll said.

“I spoke with Gabriel afterward, it was racing. Franco should focus on scoring a point.

“I’m not surprised, maybe like I said, he’s frustrated with his season, not where he wants to be and needs to speak about things that are irrelevant.

“My advice to him would be maybe to focus on his own thing and maybe score a point this year.”
