Jos Verstappen has warned that Red Bull could “fall apart” in light of Adrian Newey's departure from the Formula 1 squad.

Red Bull announced on Wednesday morning that Newey would leave his role as chief technical officer in the first quarter of 2025.

The highly-regarded engineer will focus on the RB17 hypercar project during his remaining time with the squad as he scales back from his duties with the F1 team.

Red Bull has endured a tumultuous start to the 2024 campaign with an internal power struggle overshadowing its strong on-track form.

A feud has allegedly formed between the Austrian and Thai sides of the company, with Jos Verstappen taking aim at Christian Horner earlier this year after allegations were made against the team principal by a female employee.

The disturbance has prompted suggestions that Max Verstappen, who appears on course to win a fourth world championship with Red Bull, could leave the team.

Verstappen has pledged loyalty to his father and advisor Helmut Marko - and now Verstappen Snr has renewed his concerns over Red Bull's future.

“The team is in danger of falling apart. I was afraid of that earlier this year,” Jos Verstappen told De Telegraaf.

“For internal peace, it is important that key people stay on board. That is not the case now.

“Newey is leaving and earlier this year it also looked like Helmut would be sent away. For the future, that is not good.”
