Things are going from bad to worse for Sergio Perez, who suffered another qualifying setback at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

After what he - and Red Bull team principal Christian Horner - felt was his best Friday in some time, the Mexican driver couldn't avoid his RB20 finding the Hungaroring wall during a tricky qualifying session in changeable conditions.

He will start the race on the outskirts of Budapest from P16, whilst team-mate Max Verstappen will be left to fight the McLarens, who occupy the front row, from third on the grid.

Perez has taken just 15 points in the past six rounds, whilst the Dutchman has claimed 119 in that span - more that the Mexican's haul for the entire season so far.

RacingNews365 understands that the performance clauses in the 34-year-old's recently-signed Red Bull extension mandate that he is no more than 100 points behind Verstappen at the summer break - and within five places in the drivers' championship.

It is sure to be an uncertain few weeks for six-time grand prix winner, who is currently 137 points behind his team-mate and just eight points clear of sitting P8 in the drivers' standings.

However, given the continued poor performance of Perez, should Red Bull consider letting him go before the Belgian Grand Prix - which follows the Hungarian Grand Prix and is the last before the summer break?
