Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has blamed Carlos Sainz for causing the penultimate lap crash with Sergio Perez in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Perez and Sainz were involved in a podium scrap with Charles Leclerc for second place, before the "massive" accident occurred on the back straight between the second and third corners.
The moment that led to the incident started at the first corner, where Perez attempted to overtake Leclerc for second.
Leclerc remained on the inside of the Red Bull driver, resulting in a poor corner exit for Perez.
This opened the door to Sainz to move into third ahead of the second corner, where it was Sainz's turn to have a poor exit.
Perez carried great speed through Turn 2 and pulled alongside Sainz, before the pair came together at high-speed. Both drivers made heavy contact with the wall.
The accident cost Perez his first podium since the Chinese Grand Prix, with Horner certain his driver was not at fault.
"It looked to me, just looking at the replay, like Carlos drifts across the circuit to the left-hand side," Horner told Viaplay.
"It's done a huge amount of damage, a massive accident. So it cost us points, crucial points for Checo and for the constructors'. So very disappointing."
