Lewis Hamilton has been linked with purchasing a MotoGP team, with the outgoing Mercedes driver said to be interesting in buying Gresini Racing.

The 39-year-old is believed to be in talks with the satellite Ducati team. RacingNews365 understands the veracity of the claims being reported by The Race to be accurate.

Last weekend saw the Dutch TT event at Assen, one of the most prestigious motorbike races in the world, where representatives of Hamilton were said to have been in attendance with the team he is interested in purchasing.

MotoGP is in the process of being acquired by Liberty Media, who own F1. This likely provides attractive commercial possibilities for both the seven-time world champion and the American mass media company.

Hamilton is known to be an admirer of the two-wheeled series and recently spoke brightly of legendary rider Marc Marquez's decision to join the factory Ducati team for 2025, a move that has parallels to his own Ferrari switch in F1.

That will see Marquez leave Gresini, who pulled off a coup in capturing his signature for 2024, which ended the Spaniard's long-running association with Honda.

It would not be Hamilton's first foray into team ownership, after his involvement in Extreme E, in which he ran the X44 team until this year.

Also a keen fan of American Football, Hamilton was part of the group that took ownership of the Denver Broncos in 2022.
