F1 Las Vegas GP 2024 | Start times & schedule

After two races in the parking lot of the famous Caesars Palace in 1981 and 1982, Formula 1 cars will once again hit the famous strip in Las Vegas in 2024, where the Las Vegas Grand Prix is scheduled to take place in November. The inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix was held in 2023.

On the weekend before the Thanksgiving holiday, the F1 circus will descend on the gambling city.

It will be a race held late in the evening on Saturday night in America, among all the lights and frills on the strip in Las Vegas. That means it will be an early start on Sunday morning for viewers in Europe.

History of the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix

Las Vegas previously staged two races in the early 1980s, with the event known as the Caesars Palace Grand Prix.

In both 1981 and 1982, the race acted as the season finale. Alan Jones claimed victory in the debut running, while the World Championship was awarded to Nelson Piquet who finished in fifth place.

Keke Rosberg clinched the title at the 1982 event, but it was Michele Alboreto who took his debut F1 race win.

Formula 1 will return to Las Vegas for 2023 amid the sport's growing popularity in the United States, with the event becoming the third race to be held in the country in 2023 alongside Austin and Miami.

The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix

From confrontations on the long straights to collisions, the Grand Prix of Las Vegas had it all. Max Verstappen immediately took the lead from Charles Leclerc, but it didn't go unpunished as he received a penalty. Towards the back of the field, things went awry for several drivers right away, with Lando Norris being the biggest victim after a substantial crash. Meanwhile, Leclerc managed to overtake Verstappen at the end of the first stint.

After his pit stop, the Dutchman rejoined the track behind George Russell. During an overtaking attempt, they made contact, leading to a second safety car and completely reshuffling the field. Ultimately, Verstappen, Leclerc, and Sergio Perez battled for the victory. Verstappen emerged as the winner, while in the final lap, Leclerc overtook Perez with a beautiful maneuver to secure the second position. It marked Verstappen's eighteenth win of the season.
