The FIA has announced a new partnership with the International Esports Federation aimed at combating the rise in online abuse in sports.

Agreed in Busan, South Korea, the deal will establish "effective frameworks" in response to abuse in the form of clear guidelines for stakeholders while also developing educational programmes for competitors and fans aimed at ensuring best practices are adhered to.

It is part of President Mohammed Ben Sulayem's United Against Online Abuse campaign, with hopes for the likes of FIFA, the International Olympic Committee and World Athletics to join.

"We deeply appreciate the IESF's support as we advance our mission to drive out online abuse in sport," Ben Sulayem explained.

"The IESF stands as a crucial partner, epitomising connectivity and inclusivity through Esports and the digital realm. Together, through collaboration and commitment to action, we remain dedicated to paving the way for a safer, more respectful online environment for all."
