F1 fans voice brutal ruling on Red Bull's Perez dilemma

F1 fans call for an even more immediate resolution to Red Bull's Sergio Perez situation than the planned summer review.

Sergio Perez enjoyed a strong recovery drive during the Hungarian Grand Prix to claim seventh place in Budapest.

The Mexican driver finished only two positions behind team-mate Max Verstappen, who had started the race in third, with Perez down in P16.

The weekend at the Hungaroring was somewhat of a U-shaped curve for the 34-year-old. He had his best Friday in months - by both his and Christian Horner's admission - but suffered another set back in qualifying prior to his Sunday exploits.

However, despite his improved race pace, F1 fans feel it is too little, too late for Perez. He is at risk of losing his Red Bull seat over the summer break by virtue of performance clauses laid out in his new Red Bull contract, but a majority of F1 fans feel Red Bull should act more swiftly than that.

Perez has scored a mere 21 points in the previous seven rounds - an average of three points per weekend.

Meanwhile, Verstappen has taken 129, which is five more than his team-mate's haul for the year - and that is with the Dutchman getting into scraps of his own in Austria and Hungary, which cost him further points.

In total, over 70 percent of those polled believe the six-time race winner's position with the constructors' champions is no longer tenable, with fewer than 10 percent arguing he should remain in his current seat alongside Verstappen.
