The storm surrounding Red Bull Team Principal and CEO Christian Horner continues to dominate the headlines, with a potential move to Mercedes in 2025 now being rumoured for Max Verstappen as a result.

However, the three-time World Champion is currently contracted to Red Bull until the end of the 2028 season. Despite this, ex-F1 driver Gerhard Berger has predicted how the Dutchman could pull off one of the biggest moves in the history of the sport.

"As it looks now, Horner will remain at Red Bull, both Helmut Marko and Adrian Newey will leave the team and Max Verstappen will leave for Mercedes," Berger is quoted as saying by F1-Insider.

Rumours about the reigning World Champion replacing Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes next season arose when his father, Jos Verstappen, was seen at the Bahrain International Circuit with Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff.

These rumours then grew even larger, after Red Bull driver's father made his comments regarding Horner. He stated that Red Bull will be "torn apart" if Horner remains as the Milton Keynes-based outfit's Team Principal and CEO, following the situation he finds himself in regarding the investigation and the anonymous email containing potential leaks of his messages.
