Driver stopped in the middle of the Daytona 24 Hours due to positive COVID result

GTLM driver Antonio Garcia was stopped during the middle of the Daytona 24 Hours as his COVID test came back with a positive result.

Competing in the GTLM class at the Daytona 24 Hours, Antonio Garcia was scheduled to leave the United States shortly after the conclusion of the race. Despite his team winning their class Garcia was forced to leave in between the event when a prior corona test came back as positive. The event organisers did rule that his Chevrolet factory team could continue driving in the event because they had followed all the protocols that were put in place though, Garcia's team members will have to undergo additional tests in 72 hours' time. Garcia announced on Twitter that he was surprised, since he had already contracted the virus earlier in December saying, "When I was released from quarantine on January 8, I never expected to test positive again." The coronavirus has wreaked havoc across the world with several countries going into complete lockdown. Pierre Gasly became the latest F1 driver to have contracted the virus after the likes of Sergio Perez, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris all testing positive at various points since the pandemic started.
